Community Service Block Grants

Community Service Block Grants

Community Service Block Grants (CSBG) are federal funding provided to states and local organizations to support programs and services that address poverty and promote self-sufficiency for low-income individuals and families. When a mental health facility accepts Community Service Block Grants, it can receive funding to support its efforts in serving the low-income individuals and families within its community.

Mental health facilities that receive CSBG funding may use it to support a wide range of services, including mental health counseling, case management, outreach and education, and other services that address the social determinants of health for low-income individuals and families.

To receive CSBG funding, mental health facilities must meet certain eligibility requirements, such as community-based organizations serving low-income individuals and families. They must also comply with specific regulations and reporting requirements to demonstrate accountability and transparency in using the funds.

By accepting CSBG funding, mental health facilities can expand access to mental health services for low-income individuals and families who may otherwise have limited resources to address their mental health needs. It can also help address the social determinants of health that may contribute to poor mental health outcomes among low-income populations.
